Invisalign – My Journey

Straightening My Pearly Whites

Mid last year, 2021, whilst in lockdown and with more time than usual to look at myself in the mirror, I noticed that my teeth had changed from being relatively even to looking cramped and crooked. The realignment was more noticeable on my lower teeth, my uppers still looked pretty good. I had not worn braces as a child and thought that perhaps, that was the reason my teeth had moved but after some googling, chats with girlfriends and a visit to my dentist, I accepted that this was another thing that I needed to consider as I approached my 60th birthday.

Now, there are some things that I was willing to accept as part of the ageing process, such as extra wrinkles and grey hairs but not a change to my smile! I admit that vanity had a part to play in my decision to correct my teeth, but the main reason to seek professional help, was that it was important to my over all wellbeing. I have an overbite and a malocclusion and I know that this can cause periodontal disease. So far, I have been fortunate not to have had any complications and to ensure that I maintain my good fortune I decided to invest in preventative treatment.

Enter Invisalign! I consulted Sam Giurguis at Natural Dentistry and after an informative consultation I was 100% certain that I was making a wise decision.

In my next blog on My Invisalign Journey, I will share some Before and So Far pictures of my progress and also my experience of wearing Invisalign Aligners for the past 3 months.
