Sir John Lavery, president of the Royal Portrait Society of England, wrinkled his 81-year-old nose last night and chuckled at any suggestion he was old to be painting. He was in a chuckling mood, this great little man who has done portraits twice of Britain's Duke of Windsor. In the lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel, Sir John sat in a red chair, his bright eyes twinkling as he remarked, "The Duke, in my opinion, is the nicest chap I've even known.
